How it works
A CGPA weights each semester by its credits, exactly as a GPA weights each course. Averaging semester GPAs directly is the common mistake — it only gives the right answer when every semester carried the same number of credits.
Many institutions publish a percentage conversion of roughly CGPA × 9.5. It is an approximation used on application forms, not an exact equivalence, and the multiplier varies — check what your own institution states before quoting it.

Common questions
Can I just average my semester GPAs?
Only if every semester had the same credit load. Otherwise the heavier semesters should count for more, and a plain average will be off — usually by a small but real amount, as in the example above.
Is the ×9.5 percentage conversion official?
It is a widely used convention rather than a universal rule, and different institutions use different multipliers or their own conversion tables. Treat the figure here as an estimate and confirm with your registrar.
How do I include a repeated or failed course?
That depends on your institution's policy — some replace the original grade, some average both attempts, some keep both on the transcript. Enter whichever the policy says counts.
Are my grades sent anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored. There is no account and no record of what you entered.
