How it works

Each assessment contributes its percentage score multiplied by its weight. Adding those up gives the points earned out of the weight completed so far, and dividing gives your standing on the work that has actually been marked.

That distinction matters. A 74% midterm worth 30% is not “74% of the course” — it is 22.2 points out of a possible 30. The best-possible figure adds every remaining point to what you already hold, which is the honest ceiling.

Common questions

What if my weights do not add up to 100%?

The result is still correct for what you entered — it is your average on the portion marked so far. That is exactly what you want mid-term. Once every assessment is entered, the weights should total 100%.

How is this different from a plain average?

A plain average treats a quiz and a final as equally important. Weighting reflects the syllabus, so a 40%-weighted exam moves your grade four times as much as a 10%-weighted assignment.

Can I see what I need on the final?

Yes — use the final grade calculator, which takes the same components plus your target and the final's weight and tells you the score required.

Are my grades sent anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser, so nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored. There is no account and no record of what you entered.
